House Votes to Support our Troops, Improve Medicare, and Fully Fund Community Health Centers
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Mimi Walters (R-California) released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 1892, the Further Extension of Continuing Appropriations Act.
Said Rep. Walters, “Today, I voted in favor of keeping the government open, providing our brave men and women in uniform with the resources they need to carry out their mission, and improving health care for Orange County residents.
“Importantly, this bill would make permanent improvements to Medicare by repealing the payment cap for therapy services, expand access to life-changing speech generating devices, and extend Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans. Further, it would extend funding for community health centers, which support health and wellness programs for nearly 200,000 patients throughout California’s 45th District each year.
“This legislation would also ensure our armed forces can properly protect national security, and provide our troops with their largest pay raise in eight years.
“While Continuing Resolutions are not ideal, there is too much at stake for Congress not to act. I urge the Senate to quickly pass this bill.”
Walters represents California’s 45th District and serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and the House Committee on Ethics.
