Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mimi Walters (CA-45) released the following statement after voting in support of the conference report to S. Con. Res. 11, the budget resolution for fiscal year 2016.
Said Rep. Mimi Walters, “For the first time since 2001, Congress has worked together to pass a joint 10-year balanced budget resolution that forces Washington to live within its means. Our budget provides for a strong national defense, repeals Obamacare in full, strengthens and protects Medicare and Social Security for our seniors, and most importantly, balances in ten years without putting a single cent on the backs of taxpayers. It rejects Washington’s status quo of more spending and more debt by cutting more than $5 trillion in federal spending and eliminating government inefficiencies and waste. Furthermore, our budget boosts U.S. economic growth by $400 billion over the next 10 years and creates over 1 million additional jobs for the U.S. economy by 2025. This pro-growth budget is a positive step forward for our nation - it puts us on a path to fiscal responsibility and sustainability while supporting the critical programs Americans depend on.”
Walters represents California’s 45th District and sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure and Judiciary Committees.
