Press Release

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mimi Walters (CA-45) today announced that she will participate in the 2015 Offshore Energy Tour with House Majority Whip Steve Scalise in South Louisiana April 9 and 10.

Participating in the 2015 Offshore Energy Tour with Scalise are: Reps. Larry Bucshon (R-VA), Buddy Carter (R-GA), Barbara Comstock (R-VA.), Paul Cook (R-CA), Gene Green (D-TX), Richard Hudson (R-NC) Tim Walberg (R-MI), Mimi Walters (R-CA), and Ryan Zinke (R-MT).

Said Rep. Mimi Walters, “I’m looking forward to experiencing offshore energy production first-hand on the 2015 Offshore Energy Tour this week. These energy projects are critical to American energy independence, job creation, and our national security – and I am eager to explore Hess’ Tubular Bells oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico to see how energy is safely produced offshore.”

“The Louisiana Offshore Energy Tour is a great opportunity for Congressional Members to see first-hand the technology and expertise involved in safely producing American energy in the deep waters of the Outer Continental Shelf,” Rep. Steve Scalise said.  “Each year I lead this tour, Members of Congress return with a deeper understanding of the technology and skill involved in offshore energy production. We also will meet with energy industry leaders to discuss more ways to increase energy production so we can achieve American energy security.”

“I am honored that Rep. Mimi Walters will be joining me for the seventh annual Offshore Energy Tour. American offshore energy production is vital to growing our national economy, creating good-paying jobs and strengthening our national security. It is a crucial part of an all-of-the-above national energy strategy that we fight for in Congress.”

While on the tour, the bipartisan Congressional Delegation will tour an offshore oil rig, participate in an aerial tour of the Louisiana coast, take part in an energy roundtable discussion with local energy industry leaders, visit Port Fourchon, which services more than 90 percent of all Gulf of Mexico deepwater projects, and recap the tour at a press conference at Atlantic Aviation in Kenner, Louisiana.

Walters represents California’s 45th District and sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure and Judiciary Committees.
