Press Release

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representatives Mimi Walters (CA-45) today released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 8, the North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act of 2015. H.R. 8 passed in the U.S. House by a vote of 249-174 and now awaits consideration by the U.S. Senate.

Said Rep. Mimi Walters, “As one of the world’s leading energy producers, the U.S. has the immense potential to create jobs, grow our economy, and increase energy security by maximizing our nation’s energy abundance. Unfortunately, unnecessary roadblocks, such as bureaucratic red tape and overregulation, are significantly delaying the permitting process for new energy projects. This important bill would address these hurdles by modernizing our energy infrastructure, streamlining the current approval process for energy exports, and providing regulatory relief for U.S. energy producers and manufacturers. I was pleased to stand for energy and jobs today by voting in support of this landmark bill.”

Walters represents California’s 45th District and sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure and Judiciary Committees.
