Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Mimi Walters (CA-45) today released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 749 – the Passenger Rail Reform and Investment Act of 2015 or PRRIA. As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials, Rep. Walters is a cosponsor of H.R. 749. This legislation passed in the U.S. House of Representatives with bipartisan support and now awaits consideration by the U.S. Senate.
Said Rep. Walters, “The Passenger Rail Reform and Investment Act seeks to make important reforms and improvements to our intercity passenger rail system. These reforms include increased transparency, accountability, and cost-saving measures at Amtrak that force the company to run more like a business and better serve the needs of their customers. I’m pleased to join my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in supporting this bill, and look forward to its passage in the Senate.”
