During her first term in Congress, Mimi served on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, where she played a critical role in drafting and passing critically needed infrastructure legislation. She recognizes the need for a safe and robust infrastructure system because of the important role it plays in our economy.
For the first time in a decade, a long-term highway infrastructure bill was signed into law. This bill provides necessary funding for the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, and other infrastructure projects. Another bill, the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act, which was also signed into law, included the most significant California water reforms in 25 years.
Mimi has long opposed California’s high-speed rail project, which has been plagued by a lack of transparency and riddled with cost overruns. She will continue to object to the use of taxpayer funds for this project.
